Carl J Zarzyski Class 7-69
This is Carl's story and it is a good one. Carl is the
go-to guy to make things happen, he is the one who you call to ask
advice and for most of us who know him , he is a great friend.
On the following
pages I have Carl's story , but first we want to stop here to thank him for
all he has done for veterans , us NCOC's and just about everyone he comes in
contact with. He has truly never stopped being a sergeant and an
unforgettable character.
He has been a
fantastic speaker at each of the NCOC reunion , his stories and jokes are
truly unforgettable as is his real life personality. A man that everyone likes.
He is a close friend of Ann Herd, the past president of Gold Star Mothers.
Ann's son died in Vietnam and was in Carl's platoon. He is shown here with Nick
Bacon, a Medal of Honor winner. Carl took over his squad in NAM. Carl and
his wife were honored to meet President Carter on our first NCOC Reunion - WOW! And we have to
tell you that Carl and Budd Russell are great friends, both have helped to
build the NCOC reunions and connections.
Finally, Carl is
shown with the late David Hackworth and me,Jerry Horton, at the first NCOC
reunion. David Hackworth was instrumental in the implementation of the NCOC
school and was one of the most highly decorated soldiers in Army History.
I would like to
personally thank Carl for encouragement and advice in writing The Shake
'n Bake Sergent. I am honored to have Carl as my friend. Thank
you Carl for everything.
