In October
I attended the third Shake ‘n Bake reunion held at Ft. Benning, Ga and
had the honor of presenting my new book “The Shake ‘n Bake Sergeant.”
There were about 125 attendees with wives and some children.
Everyone had a great time, and
the tours of the base were first class, we even got to look at the new
large and modern Infantry Museum slated for completion in 2008. The
Reunion this year had some wonderful speakers. We send a special thank
you to Ann Herd of the Gold Star Mothers of America, our "official NCOC
Mom". A special thank you goes out to Retired Command Sgt Major Basil
Plumley who was our guest speaker. It was a special treat to hear
directly from one who was in command in Vietnam.
They are looking
at several options for future gatherings but one that stands out is
planning of a reunion or mini-reunion around the grand opening of the
new National Infantry Museum. The date of this event is not known
at this time, but they will let you know the dates as soon as possible.
I am seeking additional Shake ‘n Bakes to contact .
Today, there are about 2000 in the data base. There were 27,000
graduates. Many of you may have contact with others that were NCOC
Graduates , please feel free to contact me to add new members. Contact
